Overview

Pakbeng is a small village in Bakeo province of Laos on the bank of the Mekong river. It is adjacent to Huay Xai and Luang Prabang province, and Thailand on the other bank of the Mekong river. Pakbeng is connected with Oudomxai by a sealed road along the Nam Beng River. The place is a wonderful place to stop, about 260 km northwest of the capital of Vientiane, Pakbeng regularly offers visitors fun moments.

Furthermore, when visiting the place, you will have a chance to admire the upstream and downstream lines are a permanent site at Pakbeng Market where shopping is not only popular with locals but also known by international visitors.

 Pakbeng

Located only 30 km southeast of Pakbeng is Muang Hongsa which is one of the very attractive tourist destinations. That is loved by many tourists that you should not miss, besides that, you can also go to Wiang Kaen (way 70 km to the west) is also a beautiful place equally. If you are planning to visit beautiful Pakbeng by air, remember Luang Prabang International Airport is about 110 km east.

This village is on the transitway that connects Huay Xai with Luang Prabang. There is the two-day boat trip from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang that stop here overnight, that is why there are a number of guesthouses set up in the village to meet the needs of tourists.

 Pakbeng

Most tourists have to stop here overnight if being on the way to visit Luang Prabang. It is possible to take a speedboat en route to the north. There are a few streets in the village, so you can wander around on the small streets to feel the peaceful living rhythm of local people. Most guesthouses here are distant 50 meters from the main street in the river direction. It is good to walk along the bank although the road is quite steep. 

Pakbeng is a remote village, so there are only a few shops for you to buy. If you tend to spend the whole day on a boat, it would be smart to pick up snacks from the market stalls that are along the main road.
