Phnom Penh is known as Krong Chaktomuk or Krong Chaktomuk Serimongkul which is the capital of Cambodia. This is the largest and most populous city in Cambodia and the leading of the nation’s economy, industry, and culture. Being praised as the “Pearl of Asia”, Phnom Penh was chosen as the national capital since the French colonization of Cambodia, now it still remains the loveliest French architectural structures along with Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. This city is one of three significant global and domestic tourist destinations in Cambodia.

The city of Phnom Penh is located on the banks of the Tonle Sap, Mekong and Bassac rivers with a population of 1.5 million people.

Phnom Penh is located in the zone of the tropical wet and dry climate. The weather in this country is hot all year round. The average temperature range from 22 to 35 Celsius degree. The southwestern inland monsoon breezes that bring moisture-laden winds from the Gulf of Thailand and the Indian Ocean from May to October while the northeast monsoon ushers bring the dry breezes to the country in the dry season which lasts from November to March. In general, Phnom Penh has two distinct seasons.

Phnom Penh is also known for its influence on New Khmer Architecture. It is very famous for Ka Tieu Phnom Penh which is a delicious rice noodle soup that makes the reputation of the cuisine of the city. Music and the arts are making a revival Cambodia. The city is host to a number of music events and is the largest entertaining center of the country. There are two most visited museums in the city including the National Museum and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.
